I'm no great narrative psychic - the plot and especially the characterization are just that predictable. I made educated guesses about his backstory 20 minutes into the game they were all spot on, one by one revealed as "twists" hours down the road. Sebastian is the generic, gruff, seen-some-shit, haunted-by-his-past horror protagonist, through and through. Much of the blame for that rests on the shoulders of the dull leading man and thin supporting cast. While the setup allows for a more psychological bent than many modern survival horror games, I can't say that the plot of The Evil Within ever really pulled me in. When Castellanos and his partners are summoned to the scene of a bloody mass murder, they find themselves separated and teleported into a twisted version of reality where regular humans are turned into horrifying, mutated killers. What Sebastian’s wife and daughter happened to, is not understood.The Evil Within follows the character of Sebastian Castellanos, a police detective working in a crime-filled metropolis called Krimson City. This leads to the assumption that Ruvik was able to return to the real world by Leslie and there still can influence the people who were connected to the STEM. He felt a brief headache, a sign of Ruviks influence on people who are connected to the STEM, thereby losing sight of Leslie. When the police arrive, Sebastian leaves the mental hospital and discovered Leslie who runs away from the clinic. When he opens them again, Kidman and Leslie have disappeared from their pans. Kidman is at his side and signaled him to lie still. He wakes up in the tub and then is seemingly back in reality. He decoupled from the STEM machine breaks Ruviks brain from the apparatus and crushes it. Then he wakes up in the tub in which he has previously seen. As Ruvik then appears, he leads Leslie in his arms and absorbed him into his brain what the world plunges into an even bigger mess: Sebastian must fight a giant creature that has sprung Ruviks thoughts. Kidman met again at the two and tried to kill Leslie. Leslie Sebastian leads back to the mental hospital in which he sees the body of Lighthouse Jimenez, Leslie, Joseph, Kidman, his colleagues and himself Connelly lie in tubs.
